The Posedown
The posedown is the five-man finally of a bodybuilding competition. It's time to flex those guns man-against-man for every crucial point possible. The posedown is the last chance to jump ahead one or even two places with an incredible set of poses. All five bodybuilders know that all their hard work, determination, and dedication comes down to this, which explains the overwhelming amount of animation, charisma, and energy displayed.
There are two ways to attack the posedown. One calls for undistracted preprogrammed poses, the other: intelligent improvising.
The stategy of the first method is to remain one-step-ahead of your competition by simply going through your preset posedown routine with utter excellence, no matter how hard they try to intimidate you into mimicing their poses. Bodybuilders obviously have a lot of perserverance to have such amazing bodies. This means that the more you ignore a challenger, the more he or she will try harder to detract you from your routine and go one-on-one with them. By doing this, however, they admit that you are the man or women to beat. The judges just might notice it.
The other attack plan often used requires quick reactions, awesome poses, and strategic improvising. Rather than ignore the challenges presented to you, respond vigorously to each and every one, while delivering a few challenges of your own. Sometimes a heated posedown is the only way to settle who is the best. The audience loves this kind of aggression, but don't expect this method to influence judges to place you higher. They know the rightful winner, based on overall performance, regardless of intense animation.
Keep in mind, this is merely a broad outline. Posing is individual. Who knows? See what works for you. I guess it comes down to your mood, your personality, and your perception of what the judges want. Pay close attention to how they respond to and rank bodybuilders in other weight classes. You should do just fine.
