  • Calculates Your Adult BMI
  • Quick, Accurate Results

  • Find out your body mass index (BMI). BMI is a scientific measurment based on your weight and height and is used as an indicator of weight status for adults.

    U.S. Calculation
    Height:  feet  inch(es)
    Weight:  pounds

    Your BMI:

    Metric Calculation
    Height:  Meters
    Weight:  Kilograms

    Your BMI:

    What does it mean?
The BMI is based on what is considered a healthy weight range and is the ratio of weight to height. The formula is: kg/m2. The overweight and obese range refers to an excess of body fat. Obesity and overweight is an epidemic in this nation and can lead to severe health problems including diabetes, heart problems and some cancers. The goal of this calculator is to help you put your BMI into perspective and if it's in the danger zone, our goal at GettingLean.com is to help you reach your goal of achieving and maintaining a healthy body weight. According to the Centers for Disease Control, a healthy BMI range is between 18.5-24.9.

Note: Since the BMI formula does not take into consideration body composition, the results would be slightly skewed for an athlete or bodybuilder with a larger amount of muscle than the average person. It's possible for a person to be considered overweight, but not overfat. In this instance, the health risks associated with an excess of body weight would begin in the 26-30 range rather than at 25.

    BMI Weight Status
    Below 18.5 Underweight
    18.5 – 24.9 Normal
    25.0 – 29.9 Overweight
    30.0 and Above Obese
